How to choose a Forgotten Stories Inheritance

Start from the mechanic you want to build around, then read both the benefit and the cost at the progression level you can actually reach.

01

Pick the main role

Decide whether the run is about Books, Artifacts, physical combat, loot, Luck, crafting, randomized Spells, or a specialized Bloodline before comparing numbers.

02

Read starting gear and passives

The starting item often defines the first useful decision. Follow its mechanic through the passive instead of judging an Inheritance by one stat bonus.

03

Count the penalties

Dreamer and Damned show why upside alone is misleading. Health, damage, Mana, healing, or resistance costs can change whether a path fits solo or party play.

Quick answers

Forgotten Stories Inheritances FAQ

What are the 8 Forgotten Stories Inheritances?

The current public list contains The Historian, The Jeweler, The Brawler, The Hunter, The Wagerer, The Cook, The Dreamer, and The Damned.

What is the best Forgotten Stories Inheritance?

There is no reliable universal best. Match the role: Historian for Books, Jeweler for Artifacts and gems, Hunter for non-boss drops, Cook for crafting, or another path whose tradeoffs fit your build.

Which Inheritance is best for Spells?

The Dreamer directly changes randomized spellcasting and Mana use but also carries physical-damage and health penalties. Compare it with the exact Spell and party role you plan to use.

Where can I compare Inheritances by play style?

Use the Forgotten Stories tier-list page for a goal-based table. It avoids unsupported S-to-D ranks while still matching all eight paths to player goals.
